Three Editing Checks

Ok so you’re getting ready to post a photograph, or a group of photographs. What are the top 3 things you need to double check before you do this? Here they are:

1. Is it straight?

There is nothing more infuriating for a viewer than looking at a gorgeous photograph that isn’t straight. It’s seriously, genuinely, 100%ly worth fixing before you post a photograph online. You can do this simply in your editing software, or just on your phone before you go ahead and put it up for everyone to see.

2. Are the colours ok?

This is especially important if you’re posting multiple photos, but it’s definitely worth checking even if you’re just posting one. What are you looking for? Well – is your photograph too green, pink, yellow or blue? This happens a lot when you’re photographing a subject with a particular colour palette and it’s sometimes difficult to see this colour change when you’re editing. So do a double take before you post photos online. Having just one photograph that is off in terms of colour will make it really stand out from the rest of your photos.

3. Is it blurry?

If it’s blurry then you have to make a decision. You can delete it completely (generally what we choose), or if you love it for a specific reason (like it’s a special person to you or it was taken in a special place), then maybe consider just keeping it in your own portfolio. Remember the people you’re sharing it with might not know what the significance is, so to them it will just look blurry…

Checked those three things? Then you’re good to go! And don’t forget to share them with us too! We love seeing your work.
